About
Goals:
Our goals for this trip are:
- Educate people about viable alternatives to petroleum fuels.
- Have fun while visiting our friends and the USA.
The concept:
Over two months (Spring 2007), drive around the country, an estimated distance of 6200 miles, with over 90% of those miles driven on vegetable oil or biodiesel.
Along the way, we will see this great country and post photos and stories on this site.
The car:
A 1982 Mercedes Benz 300DT, 5 cylinders of raw luxury, with a taste for the finer fuels in life: canola, soy, and corn.
The drivers:
Two friends moving from the Midwest to the Northwest. Over bratwurst and beer we came up with a crackpot idea to visit our friends and see more of this fantastic country.
Sacha is a chemical engineer who enjoys pretending to fix old German cars and getting coated lightly in oil.
Mary is a medical student whose navigatory sense is never wrong. Or so she says.
